Devour

I think all of the bigger stage, well lit shows I’ve been shooting lately have taken me a bit out of my game and have made me a tad spoiled.  I didn’t realize this fact until I went to shoot Shinedown last night at The Palladium om Worcester and was challenged beyond belief by the lights.

Shinedown

I suppose it didn’t help that the entire first song was one big strobe light…and the next two songs the band was pretty much in the dark save for a few spot lights from behind and then those pesky strobes again.

Shinedown

I’m sure for the audience it was a cool ass light show, I however did not enjoy them as much.  Oh well, you win some, you lose some.  This reminded me of one thing, don’t forget your roots….I need to shoot more club shows to keep myself primed and ready for challenging shows like this.

Shinedown

On a sidenote, the band sounded AMAZING!  Theory of a Deadman opened for them and they were great as well.  The club was packed and it was a hot sweaty mess.  Gotta love it.

Gigantour 2008

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

On April 25th, Gigantour 2008 thrashed its way into The Palladium in Worcester, MA. On the bill: Megadeth, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Job for a Cowboy and High on Fire.

After some miscommunication at the front door, I ended up missing High on Fire and was unable to shoot them. After that, I settled into the photo pit with about 20+ other photographers. At first this was pretty surprising because I had heard that they weren’t allowing a lot of photographers access to the tour but then I realized that they had coupled Gigantour with this years New England Hardcore and Metalfest so there were several photographers from all over there to cover that.
